How Much Should I Charge To Pick Up Leaves?

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I live in Michigan and my neighborhood is loaded with trees. I usually do a half acre lawn for $25. I will be using a tractor for picking up the leaves along with a leaf blower and a “weed whacker”, which means more gas consumption and a lot more physical labor. How much should I charge?

How Much Is A Billion?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

The next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of its releases.
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let’s take a look at New Orleans It’s amazing what you can learn with some simple division . .
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number, what does it mean?
A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.
B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.

Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
‘Taxes drove me to my doom!’

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,
and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.
We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What happened? Can you spell ‘politicians!’
And I still have to ‘press

How Much Are John Deere Agricultural Tractors Worth?

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

i have a friend who lives on a farm and was out there and they have like 4 large john deere tractors and was wondering how much these things are worth. he said he didnt know. they are from the early 1990’s. one was a massive machine which was 4 wheel drive and had dual tires on all sides. there were a few just normal tractors with large tires in back with small ones in front. one was also one of those things which you use to harvest grain, which has a snow blower like thing in front and shoots grain out the top into a truck. i’m really curious as to how much these things are worth. they are all so large

Judge’s Comments: “Masculine sport horse, well set on neck with correct length, leggy colt with correct proportions and lots of freedom of the elbow. Travels correctly, canters correctly from behind, trot has suspension.”
Calm, sane, walks well on lead and over poles, has been lunged very lightly and accepts a surcingle. Loves dogs, not afraid of farm animals, tractors, or cars. Loads and trailers easily. Ties and grooms well, picks up feet, not fussy about fly spray, blankets, or masks. Has not been clipped, working on bathing. Up to date on shots and wormer.
HOWEVER, he has a chipped hind cannon bone that while it is unsightly and will require surgery, is being treated and has never affected his soundness.
If you could please give the price (or range) you would pay if he did NOT have the injury, as well as a price because he DOES, that would be wonderful!!
((***Little note to everyone: No, he’s not for sale. No, I would never sell him without disclosing everything including the injury (and x-rays of it). This is all theoretical.))

Selling My Horses… How Much Should I Ask?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I am thinking about selling two of my horses and wondering how much i should charge for them…
My Chevy Blazer- A 9-year-old quarter horse gelding chestnut with a white blaze and four white feet- a wonderfully calm horse allows children of all ages lead him and ride him, he rides, jumps, shows, drives, and baby sits. he neck reins and goes off of leg cues with or without a bridle, he has jumped 3 ft easy and could go higher, he has shown and placed well and keeps a great personality towards everything. He drives quietly and learned in only a week (and a ten year drives him now) nothing gets this horse started and is fine around tractors, dogs, balloons, kids, and baths. I don’t have to work him every week and he will preform great just like if you were to work him every day. If you do work him everyday he will need grain… He is an amazing horse and i am selling him because i can’t afford him for another year of hay. He is a very easy keeper and doesn’t need shoes.
Ebony- a Morgan/Saddle-bred mare 14-years-old beautiful seal brown (black) two white back feet- Very beautiful flashy mare rides and drives she has amazingly tough feet and handles well for farriers (blazer does too) she is up for sale because we don’t have the time for her

How Much Tractor?

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

I’m going to purchase a lawn tractor with my tax refund. I do not need much, my lawn is only 0.5 acres. I would also like to use a snow blade to clear my drive, which is small and flat. I know they aren’t the real deal, but would I really need more than the tractors found at Home Depot or Lowes? I see that the Cub Cadets have Kohler engines compared to the Briggs found in the John Deeres. Any suggestions?
