I Need To Transfer The Title Of A Tractor Trailer Purchased In In To Il. Need Help!!!?
OK, I need to know how to transfter the title of the tractor from IN to IL.
We can’t go through the Secretary of State but I don’t know what a 3rd party title agency needs to do it.
We have the bill of sale, the origional title, but we can’t go through the Secretary of State because we can’t afford it.
Do you have ANY advice?

When you take the signed title into the DMV in IL they will collect taxes and charge for the title transfer and plates at that time. As to what the cost will be, I can’t even guess, but they will tell you then. Don’t forget to have insurance in effect and bring your proof of insurance, you will need that for the transfer.

It’s only $65.00 dollars to transfer a title….So, I’m not sure why your confused. As far as the taxes….you have to do a 2290 in order to get your plates and the 2290 is rated according to what month you purchased your truck. Your plate cost will vary depending on what states you plate for. And you don’t have to have insurance on the truck to do a title transfer. If you have any more questions my email is open.

All you need to do is sign the title over in your state, clear it through the DMV then give it to the other person, and let them register the title in their state.
