I’m Looking To Buy A Tractor. What Does The “ratio” Mean In The Description Of Used Tractors And What’s Best?

I speak of a tractor part of a tractor-trailer combo such as a peterbilt model 379-127 etc. Sample ratios are “4.10″, “2.79″, “3.55″ etc.

That is the gear ratio of the rear ends. Also called the final drive ratio. It means that for every 4.10 revolutions of the driveshaft the rear wheel turns 1 revolution.
