Is Buying A New Tractor Worth It?
Seems like new tractors are WAY WAY WAY overpriced. I am talking about serious tractors like the ones you buy at tractor dealers, not the Home Depot/Lowes stuff.
Anyways, does anyone even buy new tractors, or do most people just find a used one?

I can sell you a 350 HP 4WD John Deere 9300, only 7,000 hs, that’ll finish your grass without the mower!!!
Just parking on it!!!

It’s best to find a used one that is in good shape since the cost difference between it and a new one is enormous.

My uncle is a farmer, and I don’t think he’s ever bought a new tractor. They’re always fixing their’s it seems like. I’m assuming that they are like cars in depreciating as soon as you drive off the lot. I’d just look through newspaper ads and stuff like that to try to find a good used one.

You should buy a new tractor and trade often if you are a high annual usage farmer because of the warranty coverage and because of the integrated guidance systems. If you are not a high usage farmer then buy used.

It really depends on the size of tractor you are looking for. If you need a big one, (over 50 hp) then I would say buy used, but if you need a smaller one, look at new and used. Depending on where you live, sometimes small used tractors cost almost as much as used. Look for a diesel because they are stronger and use less fuel than gasoline engines. I have a small 30hp Kubota and it will outwork any John Deere. It runs quiet and I have lots of people that can’t believe it is a diesel.

i agree with many ppl who have answered in the sense tht it is quite pointlessto buy a brand new tractor if u have to wath ur pennies.
Better buy a used one which is in a reasonably good condition. It’ll save money and by the time it gets worn out, may be ur finances will be soaring.

Get a used one…. You can get a decent one for about half the money it would cost to get a new one……. John deere is the best….. They last forever!…good luck!
