You should wear ear protection when using noisy things like a mower. Long term exposure to noise will reduce your hearing over time. You might not notice while you’re young, but it will make a difference when you get older.

want to be able to hear your grandbaby call you Grandma?…. wear the muffs!!…. you young’uns already blast the music in the car and in your Ipods, so it’s iffy whether it’s going to make much difference….. but you might not lose an important frequency with that little protection…..and you’ll look like you actually care about yourself some….

You wouldn’t believe the number of people I know who have lost part of their hearing and they are really young too. I heard that there are more young people with hearing loss now than there ever has been because everything is loud and no one realizes that once your hearing is damaged it *NEVER* comes back or heals or anything. Scary isn’t it?….

You should always wear some kind of ear protection when using the lawn mower, or being around any loud noise actually. You won’t notice any difference in your hearing at first, but once you get more and more exposed to the loud sound you’ll notice your hearing getting worse, and you’ll have to have things louder so that you can hear them. Now, you don’t want a hearing aid do you?

Yes you should (even though I never did :p )
The typical mower sound level is 105 decibels according to the link below
