What Type Of Oil To Craftsman Lawn Tractors Use? I Lost My Owner’s Manual. Thanks?

Vast majority of them are 30 wt. You probably would not have a problem with 40 wt in very warm climates. I would locate a manual or call the engine manufacturer and ask about 10/30 or 10/40. I think craftsman carries briggs and stratton.
God Bless

  1. Frank Pytel Says:

synthetic 5W30 is what I use

  2. wolfwago Says:

    Straight HD-30 above 40 degrees Fahrenheit…
    5w-30 or 10w-30 below.
OR 10w-30 or 5w-30 synthetic all year round…
Change it every 25 hours of engine operation, check it often.

Most air cooled engines, such as the one you have, use 30 wieght oil. You can use 10W-30 but you will have to add oil more often because multigrade oils are not designed for the higher operating temparatures of air cooled engines. Consequently, they vaporize, which means you have to keep adding more.

My husband uses the same oil we use for our car.
